Well we made it to the end of the school year. It was a tough week. Tommy was still not quite himself by Monday so we took him in to see the doctor. He checked out fine and we hoped that we were all done with the sickness in our family. But then it hit Annie and Lily. Luckily, the girls didn't throw up and they were able to sleep through the night during their illness. But they both had fevers of 102, body aches, sore throat, and needed a lot of sleep. Lily would come home from school and crash for at least two hours every day. On Wednesday I thought we were over it so we all went to school with Lily for Zumba day. She really wanted me to come because she knows I love Zumba.
So we went and had fun. Turns out....Tommy is a big Zumba fan too. He and Annie were better than some of the school age kids at following the teacher. I've always known Annie had a talent for dance, but it was amazing to see Tommy follow along with the moves. Most of the moms just stood on the side lines or sat and watched. Lily was so happy that I did the exercise with her. I'll admit it was hard being pregnant, thank goodness it was only 25 minutes.
Finally Thursday came and it was time for Kindergarten graduation. Tommy and Annie were both feeling better but this was Lily's sickest day. She woke up miserable and was so sad because she didn't want to miss graduation. She asked Daddy for a blessing. Daddy blessed her to be able to go to school and perform all the songs she had worked so hard to learn in her performance. Within 10 minutes of the blessing, Lily was feeling much better. She got dressed (in an outfit of her own choosing-completely ignoring the two beautiful dresses Mommy had laid out, boarded the school bus, and was on her way. It was a sweet experience for us to see her faith in the priesthood. And we are so thankful for a loving Heavenly Father who quickly answered the request of our little girl. Her little testimony grew leaps and bounds that morning.
We showed up at school 20 minutes early hoping to secure a seat. We were too late. But we got to sit on the floor - which ended up being a good thing - we were closer that way. Madison came too. Lily was excited to have a little cheering section just for her. I kept worrying she would overheat and get sick to her stomach, but the blessing from Daddy held strong and she did fantastic.
Mommy and Tommy spent the last third of the program out in the hall. But we could still hear the singing. The students performed about 10 songs in english and spanish and sign language. It was a sweet program. Lily's teacher said she will really miss Lily next year. Lily has been a good helper and leader in her classroom. Brady and Madison gave Lily a cute blue graduation bear. She's been sleeping with it ever since last Thursday. Hooray for the end of the school year. We are all a little nervous about 1st grade, but we won't let that stop us from enjoying our summer vacation.
We had a picnic at the park and played for a couple of hours after school got out. Almost immediately after walking in the door, Lily was hit with fever again and needed to rest. She slept from 2:00-6:00 p.m and still went to bed at 8:00 p.m. Her body needed the rest. She was completely better by the next day. And we were finally all well again.
Tommy is loving the warm weather. His new word of the week is "play". First thing in the morning, her brings me his shoes, and points at the front door saying "play!" hoping I will take him outside at 6:45 a.m. to play. He is already so tan. His skin just soaks up the sun.
Annie has been working to master holding a coin over her eye like an eye patch. She was so excited to finally get it this week. Turns out a nickel is the perfect size for her right now. Tommy's love for Buzz Lightyear was reignited this week. He even carries Buzz in his shirt when his hands need to be free for other activities.
We've had warm sunny days and stormy nights all week. We haven't needed to water our grass for three weeks now. We finally got a long enough break from the storms to get our little garden planted. The girls can't wait for their sunflowers and pumpkins to grow. We've passed some of the nights playing hide and seek in the house while the rain and hail fell outside. Tommy is actually pretty good at hiding-as long as he has a partner to help him-he even says "shhhhh!" once we find the right hiding spot. We're so glad all the kids are over their illness and were able to enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend. See you next week with more shenanigans.
