April 2018

After a hectic March, we had a relatively quiet April. We prepared for Easter morning and read scriptures with Daddy before bed on Saturday night.
On Sunday morning Uncle Brady surprised us with a birthday gift for Tommy. We spent hours playing with the new track and race cars.
We watched General Conference and had a wonderful relaxed Sunday. Between sessions we spent some time at the park.
For the Sunday afternoon session we decided to take a drive. Most of the kids fell asleep and they were all quiet, which was a bonus. It made it easier for Mommy to hear the announcement that home and visiting teaching would be replaced by the ministering directive. Yikes! We all listened very carefully to the rest of that session.
While the girls were at school, the boys and Mommy visited Kids Town a lot. April weather isn't quite good enough to play outside all day. We sure loved having a place to go be active and play together.
Daddy had to go to Hawaii for a business trip. Before he left we enjoyed a kids free date night. At our server's recommendation, Daddy ordered the giant meatball and manicotti. How big could a giant meatball really be? Pretty darn big!
While Daddy was gone, Puna came to stay and play with us. We got to eat out, go shopping, and play at the park.
Tommy was super excited about his new sunglasses and game day shirt. He also got a hand me down ninja turtle shirt from his preschool teacher. He alternates between these two shirts almost every day. Heaven help us if one of them is dirty or Mommy won't let him repeat the shirt two days in a row.
On April 21st the girls danced in a Spanish cultural parade on our town Main Street. Mommy got to chaperone Annie's class. Daddy was left trying to wrangle the boys and get pictures of Lily's dance too. Thank goodness Grammy and Grampy came up to help.
The weather was gorgeous. So many families came out to watch our little performers. The girls had a fantastic experience.
Tommy's last preschool field trip was a community walk. We visited the fire station, police station, bakery, post office, flower shop, dental office, library, and grocery store. Joey ran out into the road only once. Yikes! That kid needs a shock collar.
Tommy wrote Mommy a little note and got to mail it at the post office. He was so excited when it arrived a couple of days later.
Uncle Brady came to visit and brought his new martial arts gear. All the kids, plus a few neighbors had fun trying the gloves and shin guards.
Look at Tommy's fierce little face!
Lily took a selfie on my phone. I love finding these little treasures.
Picnic lunch with two very dirty boys. Poor Joey's face is a disaster. No one makes a mess like a little boy.
We let the kids have friends over after dinner one night. It was sweet to see them enjoying a longer evening with their buddies.
We hit the trails one morning and had a great hike with the kids. This is the first hike we didn't have to carry anyone or listen to anyone complain. That's a big win!
When we finished and started back to the car, Joey had a meltdown. He cried because he wanted to "stay on the mountain". He's definitely a Wanner!

That's it for April. After a busy March and before a usually crazy May, we were thankful for a slower paced start to Spring.
