May 04, 2014

Dear Grammy, thank you for thinking of us this week.  The girls were really excited to get their personal notes and pictures to color.  Lily finished hers in record time.  She wanted me to take a picture to show you how she colored it.

Lily was in a helpful mood on Monday after preschool.  She helped me polish the furniture, vacuum, make beds, clean the kitchen, do the dishes, and make dinner.  After we were all done she decided that being a mommy is really hard work.  She hasn't offered to help me the rest of the week.  I guess I burned her out the first day.

Tuesday night we had the Young Women stop by our house as part of their camp certification.  The girls were divided into four teams - each team was assigned a color.  They stopped at different homes in the ward to pass off their certification items.  The activity was based on the t.v. show The Amazing Race.  At each location they had a task to complete and then a clue to find their next location.  Our house was a "detour" in the game.  They had to do a challenge rather than certify.  They had to choose two girls from their team to eat what was hidden in the bags.  It was baby food!  It was funny to watch them reach in the bags and pull out the jars.  Some girls almost threw up right on my kitchen table.  Most of them did fine, but we really worried about a few.  It was a fun night watching the teams race in and try to beat each other.  Lily and Annie are really excited about turning 12 now.  Tommy was just really confused as to why big people were eating (and gagging on) his favorite foods.

Lily has been more interested in piano again.  She's really working hard on learning "Old MacDonald" so she can play it for Puna next week.

Annie has been dressing herself lately.  When we don't let her choose her clothes (like on Sundays) she has a gigantic tantrum.  You should have seen her this morning on the way out the door to church!  Most of the time she does a pretty good  job in what she chooses.  This outfit was just funny.  I love the glasses, headband, messy hair, and pink plastic ring.

Tommy drank his last bottle of formula this week.  He is officially drinking whole milk now - and he is unofficially drinking from sippy cups.  I still let him have a bottle at night, but most of the day he is doing great with the sippy cups.  He seems to be growing so fast.  Where has the time gone?

Ran errand with the kids the other day and they fell in love with the fish at WalMart.  It was hard to get them to leave the "fishies" behind.

Annie spiked a fever mid week.  We just can't seem to shake this sick bug.  It only lasted a day and never got over 102.  Jeremy did finally get sick too.  He's still getting rid of his cough.  Tommy is also still sick.  We're worried he might need his tonsils out when he gets older.  The doctors keep talking about how big his tonsils are.  And he always has a runny nose - just like Annie used to.

Tommy was wearing his bib like a cape on Friday.  When we'd say "Super Baby!" he would reach his hands up high in the air and laugh.

We got a surprise box in the mail from Puna!  Annie was so excited about the dance and exercise clothes she wore every single new outfit all in the same day.

Lily is excited about the clothes too.  But she spread her outfit wearing out over two days rather than one.

Tommy is growing and changing so quickly.  He'd feeding himself (sort of), getting into trouble constantly, and walking like a big boy all the time.  I love seeing him running around outside trying to keep up with the girls.  I'm starting to experience that Mommy Psychosis of wanting him to stay a baby and yet wanting him to grow up and do more things on his own.

Now that the weather is warmer and the driveway is paved, the kids want to play out front all the time.  I love it, but it makes me so nervous to see Tommy run fearlessly toward the street.  He's so excited about walking that he won't slow down or stop when he get to the end of the driveway.  He loves trying to push the wiggle cars.  He always ends up going in circles unless Lily helps him.  Lily and Annie have already been sunburned.  It's time to get better about applying sunscreen!

See you next week Puna.  Have a great trip Grammy and Grampy.  Love to all of you!
