Coeur d'Alene Trip - 2nd Half

A busy day at the silver mine and the lake left us wanting a relaxed night at camp. We played our new favorite family game: Sleeping Queens. Joey ran around and exlpored
And Joey never let his new cow purse out of his sight. He loves that little cow.
A good dinner and a good rest prepared us for more adventure on our last full day in Coeur d'Alene.
In 2017 we saw information about the Tubb's Hill Nature Preserve and wanted to spend time hiking there - but we didn't have enough time on that trip.
We read that it was a pleasant and easy nature experience for families with opportunities to cross little suspension bridges and access the water. Sounded easy enough. We decided to give it a go.
It turned out to be more of a challenge than we expected. We didn't realize that the trail was a one way loop of 2.4 miles with lots of hills!  Everyone got in some good hiking that day.
We found a great spot to get near the water, climb on rocks and cool off our feet. It was our kids' dream spot to play. All the rocks, crevices, and water made it a bit of a parent's nightmare. Luckily everyone stayed safe. We got to watch some cliff jumpers and boaters.
Puna stayed safely on the beach while the rest of us took turns climbing on the rocks.
Joey wanted to stay here and throw rocks and sticks into the water all afternoon....that and attempt to jump into the lake from a 50 foot cliff. He gave Mommy and Daddy a few scares on this hike.
When we came around and saw the marina, we knew we were almost done. Hallelujah! Everyone needed to use the potty and we were out of water. Seeing the end of the trail was a happy moment.  Unfortunately we ended up almost a mile from where we left the cars and the kids could not go another step. So while Daddy and Papa ran back to get our cars, Puna and the kids did this.....
Joey hasn't been this still since he started crawling. We were all beat! Hiking is Joey's favorite thing to do. Any time we pass a mountain he wants to climb it. I am tempted to let him if it means he will nap like this - or stay still for up to 30 minutes.
After a long morning nature walk turned hike - we were ready for a picnic and some fun at the lake! Puna delivered our goodies on her trike.
We ate quickly so we could get to the water. The sand on this beach is always so hot. The lake didn't feel as warm as last year, but it was still so nice on a hot day.
The boys took turns getting buried in the sand and breaking out with their "big" muscles.
Even Papa took a turn getting buried.
Papa and the boys battled with pool noodles and kick boards like they were swords and shields.
The girls preferred to lounge in the sand.
On our way back to the car, the boys asked for a ride on the carousel. We had promised them a ride last year, it was time to pay up.
To celebrate our last night of vacation we ate at Outback. A big steak felt good after playing hard all day long. One last night in the tent and then it was time to say goodbye.
The girls stayed busy playing games while we packed up the vehicles.

Thank you Puna and Papa for joining us on our fun summer trip. The kids are still talking about the memories they made. It was a wonderful family vacation.
