Monday night was the Halloween Fundraising Carnival at Lily's school. We went for our Family Night Activity. Lily was excited to see her teacher and buy treats with her tickets. Tommy's favorite game was a rubber duck float. He just kept picking up the ducks and throwing them in the water to make a big splash. I think the poor teacher running that game was happy to see us leave. Annie and Lily liked the bouncy ball "golf". They had to try and roll or bounce their balls through a series of paper tunnels. Tommy kept chasing the balls. He loved it. We finished the night with some cotton candy and a trip to the face painting station. Lily wanted a snowflake flower and Annie wanted a pink and purple flower. It was a really fun and busy night. The teachers all looked exhausted by the end of the night. Now that we finally have a child in school, I am so much more appreciative of all my teachers did for me.
Cutie pies showing off their face paint right before bath.
The girls had their annual check up on Wednesday. They are healthy and great. We spoke to the doctor about Annie's limp. He said it is normal for a month or so after a cast is removed to have some stiffness and muscle weakness. He wasn't worried and told me to call in a few weeks if she's still limping. But to try and motivate her to move with any activity she loves most in the mean time.
Tommy was just happy he wasn't at the doctor for shots. He started crying when we first walked in the door. But once he found this driving toy, he was a happy camper. Thursday was "Wear Sweats to School Day". Lily was super excited she had her new birthday sweats to wear. Thanks for the cute outfit Puna.
We made it to story time at the library. I like going right before a holiday because they always do a fun craft. This week it was spiderwebs. Tommy wasn't interested, but the girls had fun weaving their webs. Tommy was way more excited to try out the computers. He climbed right up, put on the headphones, and started clicking away at the mouse. He looked so cute sitting there next to the girls, trying to be a big kid too.
Thursday was dance class. All the kids dressed up and brought treats to share. They danced for half an hour and then the teacher invited all of us to come and play games and dance. So for another half hour, we played Red Light-Green Light and danced to funny Halloween songs. Tommy and Annie loved getting to dance with me and Lily. And the girls looked so cute both dressed as Anna.
Friday started out great. I got Lily off to school in her Elsa costume. Then Annie and Tommy put on their costumes to go with me to the school for Lily's class party. I was in charge of one game but I had a feeling I should prepare two. I'm glad I did. Another mom showed up to help and was able to run the second game which helped make the groups a little smaller. I did a Halloween Bingo game. The other game was a Candy Corn relay where the kids had to fill up cups by running with spoonfuls of candy corn. It was so much fun. And Annie and Tommy were absolutely great which made my morning even better. But on the way home from school, Annie started complaining of stomach pains. We made it to the house and ran into the bathroom just in time for her to throw up. She had a fever and chills after that and climbed into bed to sleep for four hours. She woke up with a terrible headache and rested on our bed until it was time to Trick or Treat. She was NOT going to miss that.
Lots of fluids, rest, and some ibuprofen worked their magic on little Annie. She was bouncing off the walls when it was time for our neighborhood Trunk or Treat party. Everything went smoothly for the party. The bonfire and was a big attraction - and a nice way for all of us to stay warm. We were so pleased with the turnout and all the neighbors asked us to do it again next year. What matters most is that our kids had fun. We were so glad Annie bounced back enough to enjoy the party with everyone. Tommy just wanted pumpkin cake....lots of pumpkin cake.
Happy Halloween!
