July 05, 2015

What a fun packed week we had!  On Monday morning we had a 33 week baby check up.  We scheduled the C-Section for August 10 - almost right up to my due date.  While the doctor and I were talking, the girls had some fun with my camera and took lots of pictures of each other.  Silly kids.  Right after the doctor appointment we went to Porter Park in Rexburg to enjoy the splash pad and get some relief from the 100 degree temperature.
We had a great picnic and play time at the park.  The girls went exploring and found "treasures" of all kinds.  Their favorite items were the pine cones and sticks.  Tommy wouldn't leave the water or Mommy's side.  He wanted to be wet and cool - just like me. On Monday night we met Daddy on campus for an employee dinner.  The food wasn't great, but we got to catch up with some old friends we haven't seen in a while.  After dinner, Daddy took the kids exploring in the campus gardens while Mommy enjoyed the campus air conditioning and read a book.  They came across a little bunny.  The kids chased it all over.
If you look closely you can see the little brown cutie in the photos.  The kids talked about the bunny for days afterward.  During the dinner, a wind storm blew across the valley.  We came home to find our neighbor's trampoline in our garden!
Somehow it didn't damage any of our plants or beds.  Neighbors who saw it happen said it was sailing through the air as if it were a piece of paper.  It got caught up in our tree line and stuck in the garden.  We're just glad no one was hurt.  And we wish the neighbors would come and get it!  It has been a garden fixture for a week now.  We're pretty sure it's going to be stuck there all season unless we remove it ourselves.
The kids had a fun quiet morning playing with their American Girl dolls on Tuesday.  Monday was packed with places to go and things to do; so it was a nice change to just sit and play for a while.  Tommy even tried to help with the dolls.  He was worried that the dolls needed shoes and kept trying to suggest shoes to the girls.
Tuesday night was Annie's second soccer game.  She was an animal on the field.  She kept trying to get the ball and did a few good dribble runs down the field.  She is not that interested in scoring or trying for the goal yet, but she has figured out the concept of staying with the ball and she understands which direction to go.  Tommy slept through most of the game.  The heat just zapped all his energy.
Wednesday was a boring errands day so Mommy tried to make it fun.  We visited the fish at Walmart, ate samples at Sam's Club, and played in the landscape fountains at Lowe's.
Lily had her second soccer game Wednesday night.  It was very hot.  She wasn't as excited about playing this game - probably because of the heat.  But she did try and said it was fun. Her coach was armed with a spray bottle so he could help the kids cool off with a mist of water.  Smart guy.  We need to remember to bring one for us too.
The girls have been sleeping in the basement for a few weeks now.  One of the sleeping bags needed to be washed.  Our washing machine can't handle a load that large so I took the kids to the laundromat with me.  Tommy was amazed by the machines.  He was worried about his "blankies" being "stuck" in there, but once the bubbles and water started going, he enjoyed the show.
By Thursday, Mommy was miserable from the heat.  After trying four different stores we finally found an A/C unit for sale at Lowe's.  I can't believe how many stores have already cleared out their summer merchandise for fall and winter.  I was in tears trying to find an air conditioner. Thank goodness we found one.  I am not cut out for 90+ temperatures and a house that gets above 77 degrees.  Jeremy really didn't want to get one but he agreed that due to the pregnancy and baby arrival we should invest in one.  It has offered welcome relief all this week.  I'm so thankful to have it!
We moved the pool to the shady side of the house.  It gets all the morning sun to warm the water and in the afternoon and evening the adults can enjoy the shade while the kids play in the pool.  The heat of summer makes moments like this worth it.  The kids had an amazing time splashing together all evening.  That night we let the kids stay up late for our neighborhood fireworks show.  Some of our neighbors bought the super awesome explode in the air kind.  It was an amazing show.  We popped popcorn and passed it out to all the kids.  The girls snuggled in their blankets with their friends.  And Tommy was put to bed before the party started.  Thankfully he slept at home through the whole thing. It was a great night of celebrating with friends.
The next day Jeremy had the day off from work. Our friend Brad called early in the morning to offer Jeremy a plane ride.  They were gone about 3 hours.  It was a perfect day for flying.  They got great views of the Heise and Kelly Canyon areas.  And they did a fly over of the house - so low we could see Daddy's face in the window of the plane.  The kids thought that was amazing!
After Daddy's flight, we decided to take the kids to Jefferson County Lake.  It was an excellent way to stay cool and keep the kids distracted while they waited for Puna and Papa to arrive that night.
We built sandcastles, splashed in the lake, climbed on the new park toys, had a picnic lunch, tried to find shade, and managed to avoid getting sunburned.  We thought the kids would maybe last two hours, but we ended up being there for four hours.  The water was very comfortable.  Jeremy picked a perfect spot near a shallow cove so the kids could easily touch the bottom and feel secure.  All of them braved deeper waters with their life jackets, but Tommy prefers having more control.  Every time his life jacket turned him over to float he would yell "Daddy!  Help me!".

No reason for this picture.  Lily is just adorable.  Daddy snapped this one morning before leaving to work.  We have been opening the windows of the house at night to get the house as cool as possible, so the kids are always a little chilly first thing in the morning.

We did so many things on the 4th of July that I had to put them in another post.  We squeezed way too much fun into one day and it left us all exhausted.
