September 07, 2014

Lily and Annie enjoyed their last few days of summer by playing all day with their best buddies Nathan and Hailey.  They were together from sun up to dinner time having fun adventures in the yard and garden.  Annie told me she doesn't know what she'll do for fun once Lily starts school.  I told her we would make our own fun.  She wasn't so sure.  Thanks a lot kiddo!

Puna and Papa came for a visit over Labor Day weekend.  It was so fun to spend a few days together.  Puna and Mommy got to take Madison wedding dress shopping.  She looked beautiful in everything she put on, but the dress she chose really fits her personality and is gorgeous.  Can't post any pictures...you'll have to wait until December to see it.

Puna made the girls' dreams come true with an early birthday present.  Now Lily has an Anna Frozen dress and Annie has an Elsa Frozen dress.  They are super excited to get to switch roles in their role playing and have been playing Frozen non-stop since getting the new dresses.

On Labor Day we went to the Eastern Idaho Fair.  The weather was perfect.  The kids had a great time seeing all the animals and eating fun treats.  Papa was a good sport and rode rides with Annie since she was too short to ride without an adult.  Tommy loved getting up close to the sheep and ponies.  Lily wanted to ride more rides, but the tickets were too expensive.  We'll plan ahead next year and go on a wristband day that allows unlimited rides for a discounted price.

I think the kids' favorite part of the weekend was just playing outside with Puna and Papa.  We even managed to get Puna on the trampoline!  The kids thought that was so fun.  Papa was a good sport and jumped with the kids a lot.

Lily designed a treasure hunt for the family all by herself.  She buried some treasure in the backyard, drew a map for us to follow, and led the expedition all on her own.

She was very proud of her map.  Bottom center image is the house with a trail leading to the trampoline, then another trail that leads to her sunflower house (red flower at center of map), then another trail to her favorite climbing tree (blue tree at left), then we had to go to the windmill, apricot tree, and finally the red barn.  The treasure was buried next to the barn.

Lily telling us how to read the map so we didn't get lost.

Madison and Brady being good sports!

And finally we found the treasure.  Lily had buried a little box filled with tiny pebbles.  Thanks for the treasure hunting adventure Lily Bug!

Puna and Papa left and it was time to get ready for school.  I'll put up Lily's school pictures in another post.  Te celebrate surviving our first week of school we did a neighborhood campfire on Friday night.  It was really low key but the kids and neighbors said it was so much fun.  Our neighbors came over to roast/burn marshmallows and play in the yard.  I'm so glad we did it.  We might make this an annual tradition too.

However....Annie was having so much fun partying that she didn't make it to the bathroom in time.  Somewhere between the back door, kitchen, and bathroom she pooped her pants and some of the mess ended up on the carpet.  Then she went into the bathroom and tried to clean herself up - without telling us - which left more poopy mess everywhere.  One of the neighbor kids came in to use the bathroom (Annie was hiding in her room with a box of baby wipes trying to clean herself up) and didn't notice the poop on the carpet.  She stepped in it and tracked it down the hall plus got it on her hands and legs somehow.  Gross!  We had to give Annie a shower, hose down the neighbor girl so her parents could get her home, and scrub the carpets and bathroom.  Not exactly how we wanted to end the night.  She tried so hard to take care of it herself and just made the mess even worse.

Sunday after disinfecting every surface Annie had touched - we had Brady over for his birthday dinner.  I had my lovely kitchen helpers assist with making the cake.  It was a little lopsided, but it still tasted great, and the girls were so proud of it.  Happy 21st birthday Uncle Brady.
